Date a Girl or a Guy Who Travels

February 29, a Leap Year,it happens only once in 4 years...How I wish... LOVE will prevail...

Finding TRUE love is really hard...
with this kaleidoscope life...
There are far way too many obstacles in this so called LIFE and include the LOVE it will increase nth folds times!

BUT don't worry Love maybe hard to understand and predict. BUT Love makes everything goes round in this world...Ohh here I go again getting poetic. Ok money does run this world...but money is easier to find than LOVE! So I'd rather have love! ^_^

"Promises- Tile of love" - Seoul, South Korea

Here's the math of love in a super simplified English form.
(Which is so complicated LOVE can't be computed at all)

You like her/him, she/he don't like you. :(
She/he likes you, you don't like her/him. :-/
There's this I like you, you like me, BUT...distance/ex factor/strict parents/this and that factor to the nth level!
There's this simple I like you, you like me match made in heaven. A rare case scenario? :p You have it? Good for you! ^_^

"Promises-Locks of Love"- Seoul, South Korea

But I'd tell you one thing if you date a Girl/Guy who is a FREQUENT traveler (lots of local and some international 3 or more (you maybe wondering HUH?)) and he/she told you that he/she loves you. IT's 99.99% REAL specially when it comes from a girl! Sorry for the guys let's make it 99.98%... hehe!

There's always an exception ok 99.99% maybe exaggerated. :p

You maybe asking WHY?
There are lots of reasons.

People who travels experienced already alot of things in life. Things that molded them as a GREAT person.

1. Imagine after meeting lots of people abroad and he/she choose you? That MUST BE SOMETHING! Of all the faces and people she met. It's YOU! ^_^
2. A traveler won't be usually the physical vain/fashion kind type of person. He/She saves more for the next adventure.
She/He may have bad skin complexion/frekkled face/dark uneven skin BUT the experience/attitude/having the balance of being serious and being jolly compensates it.
3. Wouldn't it be great if he/she will save you from your COUCH POTATO syndrome?
4. You can date anywhere may it be street foods/5 star hotels. He/She have done done that. NO need to worry where to date.

A traveler lover can even have a dinner and survive with crackers alone.

5. Usually a level headed person. Won't get mad immediately unless it's really REALLY your fault :p
6. Talks a lot about dreams, great memories, and future travels that he/she is planning. Yes even the current year is 2012 and the travel plan is 2013. NOTE: Don't feel bad if he/she didn't include you in his travel plan. Some of us always have the "me" time at some part of the year.
7. Usually a witty person. That will make you think and so unpredictable that the next line that would come out will make you laugh.
8. And sooooooooo many other reason I can't think of!

So there you go find a girl/guy who always travel and your life wouldn't be the same OLD BORING again.

But love, keep him/her secured, take care of each other, see the nature at's it best, walk together in the beach, scream together in the top of the mountain, do some jump shots together, cure each other's phobias in life (afaird of height? bring him/her to a trek) Afraid of crocodiles? Eat a crocodile... yikes haha!, experience the culture, the food...Keep and cherish the memories ^_^

Share the bottled water, have a muddy shoes at the same time,be sweaty at the same time...and remember a smooch in a mountain/public place is always memorable.Even just a one second smooch ;)

So go find your Mr. Traveler or Ms. Traveler.

and if LOVE prevails I hear wedding bells DING DONG!!!

Ok that is a joke...haha!

Here's the serious one A human being as groom and bride...

GOTCHA!!!!

Tree of Love....Now where could be my love be? I guess she's really in the North Pole? or South Pole? or another planet in another galaxy?

For now I'll send my wishes to the sky ^_^ and hope one day, the ONE will arrive.
ON A GEEKY SIDE NOTE:Maybe in an alternate universe, we will be together...

Philippine International Pyromusical Competition 2012

There's always something that brings our memory back during the time we are kids. Who doesn't miss the days back when we are kids where there are no problems(Unless you are being bullied). We just eat and play ^_^ Now what things/events that brings you back to the old day?

For me one of those things that reminded me of childhood is fireworks! I remember grandpa buying fireworks during New Year! ^_^

Even as I grow up whenever it's still a part of me. Whenever I'm with my friends in SM Mall of Asia as much as possible once the fireworks are lit up we would rush to see the fireworks.

Last year I also watched the Philippine International Pyromusical Competition. In fact I watched it three times for 3 consecutive weeks. That's how I love fireworks so much! This year I got invited to cover the event. Thanks to Azrael and SM Mall of Asia. The event this year will be held from February 11, 2012 to March 17.

For the 3rd week of the show the one who will compete are Oy Pyroman Finland LTD. of Finland and Grupo Luso Pirotecnia of Portugal.

Videos and photo From Portugal

Black Eyed Peas Dirty Bit-The Time
Best Band ever!

Cold Play Viva La Vida
Yay one of my fave band! ^_^

I can see some red HEART formations ^_^

Videos and photo from Finland

Oy Pyroman Finland LTD. use the music from their own country, they have more of a traditional approach. I did like the fireworks of Finland in more of an artistic way. On the other hand Grupo Luso Pirotecnia (GLP) of Portugal used new and hip music, with a mix of old rock, and even music from their country. Both have their own approach but it is very noticeable that people like Portugal more and that includes me for the reason that it's a "fun fireworks". In the case of Portugal you could here the claps and "Woooowwwww" of people.

Batad Weekend Warrior - Help Restore Batad

I went with my friends in Batad last December and the beauty is really great but I noticed also that some parts are deteriorating. Good thing that this  Feb 3, 2012 until December 2012 there will be a restoration. But this time they are asking help for people/mountaineering the Batad's can't do all the work.So mountaineering guys LETS GO and contribute something to our history ^_^

Some of the Storm Chasers/Trekkeras will be going to this restoration of Batad. You guys are so great ^_^ It was really an honor meeting you guys. I might go to the next batch since I have used my curfew time... LOLS too much trevelling this days and I think I can go to next months batch.

Batad Weekend Warrior is established on VolunTourism concept to support the "Badchang" - A Revival of Ifugao Bayanihan Spirit and Restoration Program of Batad Rice Terraces (a UNESCO Heritage Site) of Banaue, Ifugao in the Philippines

BE A BATAD WEEKEND WARRIOR

Help the Ifugaos restore the Batad Rice Terraces by becoming a Batad Weekend Warrior starting Feb 3, 2012.

Bachang ('vfa-dchang) or Baddang means "Bayanihan" in Ifugao dialect. Traditionally, the Ifugao's held the Bachang to assist a farmer in performing farm chores or house repairs. Bachang will be a work-in progress activity in Batad Village. On top of the usual tour packages and itinerary in Banaue, the community of Batad is opening their doors to all VolunTOURISTS to a unique participatory activity of "stonewalling" in order to restore and rehabilitate the damaged portions of the rice terraces during the past typhoons.

The group build requires at least twenty (20) volunTourists and the activity will take about four (4) hours minimum under the guidance of local master builder and a locale team comprised of farmers. This will be held every weekend starting Feb 3, 2012 until December 2012. There are no specific technical know-hows required except that a participants willingness to do a 1 hour and half-trek to reach Batad.

Participatory fees* to be paid will be in forms of in-kind (barter) like farming tools (shovel, spades, prong hoe, boots, protective helmet and gloves). This will be given as donation to the Batad Community Work Shop available to tourist and farmers. * - Participatory fees are in-kind donations (see specified list of materials) and does not include travel, accommodation, guide and PhP20.00 pesos registration fee for visiting Banaue, Ifugao.

Special arrangement for group build can be arranged with the Batad Community through the Barangay Council in Batad Village and or the Banaue Tourism Information Center (074 386 4010/ 09294692138 Jane Mateo) at Banaue town proper.

Batad Rice Terraces is one of the five (5) rice terraces enshrined by UNESCO as World Heritage Site in 1995. Due to climate change and natural calamities, the rice terraces is at the risk of deterioration caused by soil erosion.

Batad Weekend Warrior is just one of the collective efforts from both government and private sectors. Cultivated through a sustainable VolunTOURISM program, the advocacy to revive the Ifugao's "bayanihan spirit" aims nonetheless but to rehabilitate the rice terraces as a true living natural museum and world heritage site; conducive for learning and experience though mutual cooperation and sweat equity.

Bachang is a volunTOURISM initiative of John Chua's Photography With A Difference (PWD) and the people of Ifugao.

Up Fair 2012 Music Wall Climb Rides Food Trip and Fun

Let's start with a video. I always love independent films just stories about life. It ignites the feeling of youthness and being alive, and bringing hope.

For other videos please click here

I think some are not yet uploaded but let's wait and see.

I was once a student of UP ITTC its just months but UP really has something to offer. Freedom (I can wear shorts and slippers while having a class ^_^),GREAT MINDS and simple life bananaque/turon is our snacks :D

SKIP history and go to FUN part

I went to UP Fair 2012 with Storm Chasers (a mountaineering group). As always they never failed to amaze we. What a fun group! ^_____^

Wall Climbing finally a dream come true, Octupus ride, swing ride ala Enchanted kingdom! Thanks Storm Chasers for another "memorable memories"!

Music + Food trip Shawarma rice, dirty ice cream vocado cheese and "something" I can't detect what it is, dunkin donut blueberry, and tried a Starbucks wannabe The Frap Bar hehe BUT it does taste good ^_^

Wohooooooooo! another great experience ^_^

As I walk upon the clouds of muddiness. And as I sore with the rides pretending to fly. I felt so ALIVE

Some background:
The UP Fair is an annual event hosted by the University Student Council (USC) with other student organizations. It serves as a venue to raise awareness amongst the the community, with the youth in particular, about issues of national significance. All funds raised go to beneficiaries such as dormitories and the nearby comunities.

ReboKultura
The UP Fair version of a weeklong demonstration of music to agitate our souls. Music is one form of art which expresses our culture, dreams and passions. The times today call for the shattering of allnotions which depict art as a passive entity. More and more, should it take on a revolutionary, active role in the making of history.

The USC UPD stands as the highest representative institution of 23,000 students from 25 colleges of the University of the Philippines-Diliman. Belonging in the flagship campus among UP System units, UPD USC continues its proud, historic tradition of active involvement to defend the rights and interests of the students and Filipino people.

We were supposed to go to Pyrolympics (Philippine International Pyromusical Competition but we decided that since it will be shown until Mach 17 we still have time to go there. So we decided to go to UP Fair 2012

So what can you do in this Fair? This will hopefully encourage you to go next year in this event ^_^

Wall Climbing for 50 pesos and you can climb 2 times the hard one the easier one. Whew it wasn't that easy! My arms HURTS haha! It's ok don't worry you have a harness ^_^

The Music

The Rides- Octupus, Ferris Wheel, Slide, Spaceshuttle :p , Caterpillar :p

Octupus Ride- Dangerous ride not much security but what the heck your in a Perya(Local Fair) :p just hold on to the rails :D

Spooky huh?

Food Trip (from pizza, bbq, Fraps, icecream, queque, fishballs, squidballs, donuts, etc)

Blueberry Donuts ^_^

Mediterranean foods never fails me ^_^

and FUN with FRIENDS!

Storm Chasers

An adventure wouldn't be complete without a jump shot ^_^

Tip for travelers
1. Wear a shoe + bring plastics to cover your shoe. It's going to be so muddy. Unless you want to feel the Earth like me :D. But next time I'll wear shoes instead!

Evidence of muddiness

2. Bring tissues if you are icky with mud, some muds will just "splash at you" well not really splash but... geez I can't remember the word haha!
3. Don't buy bottled water from outside since it is not allowed inside. Don't worry you can still buy water inside. It's just a security measure in events.
4. Bring Extra shirts, if it's hot you'll be sweaty :p and yes when you went home you want to be not stinky :p
5. When going to rides, GRIP with all your might, not much security. It's a dangerous ride REALLY.
6. and lastly ENJOY the music, rides, the foods and the company of your friends ^_^

Tips for Travelers

1. Go to Five Star terminal since they have even have 1am travel from Manila going to Dau.
Schedule of Five Star Bus
Schedule of Victory Liner @EDSA Cubao and Pasay
Philtranco
Philippine Rabbit 530am 30mins waiting time @Rizal Avenue cor. recto
Bus Megamall A - near Toy Kingdom 7am-730pm

2. Don't bring too much foods/chips or else you will have a hardtime bringing it to everywhere you go. Foods are available there at an affordable price.
3. Bring 2 shirts, we got lucky it was not that sunny, neverthless we are human being and located near equator so expect to sweat
4. Going in the venue, it is much easier to just buy the ticket on the event and enter the SHORTER LINE. I wonder why people go to the longer line? (Now I wonder I almost did that too!)
5. Bottled water is 25 pesos there no need to bring water.
6. Bring picnic table cloth/banig/sarong/ for you to have a resting place. You wouldn't want to stay in a tent the rest of the day. Experience the event. Don't stay in food stalls. Believe me lying in the sarong and seeing the kites and clouds and Mt. Arayat is a great experience.
7. Watch all the event, some title of event is boring but it's really nice
8. It is better to go on Saturday or Sunday since there are more events.
9. bring binoculars, I forgot to bring one.
10. If you are going to travel by Public Utility Vehicle after the event is done, RUNNNNNNNNNNNNN so you can ride jeepney back to terminal. Or else you need to walk a long way to terminal/or you'll be lucky to find a trike. If ever you have a lot of friends with you and you found one trike, you can ask the trike to contact the other trike drivers to fetch your other friends, and lastly have FUN ^____________^
If you don't want to bring a vehicle and don't want to walk you can buy a tour  from an Agency but do note that they leave Manila at 7am so you will missed the 530am event. For the agency please visit this site

Personal Experience:

...Balloon, a toy that we as a kid love it. A birthday or going to park wouldn't be complete without it.

I'm a big guy now so I wan't a hot air balloon! Nahhhh it's expensive and where would I keep it? so the only thing I could do is well :D tadahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! go to the 17th Philippines International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta which will be held in Clark Pampanga.

Summary:Another memorable super duper great time with my mountaineer family (Storm Chasers) ^_^ + 1 classmate from Mapua Marco + Shan!

It is mine and lifelong friends dream of going to this event 4 years ago. Every year it's just ALL plans....plans... but we always ended up going to somewhere else hehe :p. I said to myself one day...one day....Then finally, Bry one of the Storm Chasers posted that there there will be a balloon festival this February 9 to 12 2012. I asked my best friends at first they said yes but Anne is sick, the other 1 has just been married, the other 2 in in province, the other on in Korea, and the other one @Mico well tinamad na hehe? In the end I'm glad that Storm Chasers will really go ^_^

A big wohooooooooooo! BUT BUT BUT! whoops at the day we will buy the tickets WHOOOPS no more tickets! WHOA!!! but after a day it's being sold again by ticket net. + I saw Marco's status that he want to go so there you go +2 adventurers wohoooooo!

Then the day finally arrive! we need to leave 2 am from Manila to Clark so we can be there by 330 and be early...WHOOPS !

I'm in the Five star terminal at about 130am. Marco and Shan arrived around 2am. Kevin's camera had a problem so he was late... I went to the first bus and reserve 5more seats HAHAHA. Well until I just went down cause we are not yet complete. It's fine at least I can have some penoy again after 13years.

We arrived in the event around 530 BUT whoops ticket is still with the people who climb Mt. Arayat.

Finally we decided to just buy another ticket and let the other just sell the tickets again.
FINALLY we got in WOHOOO lets the balloon fun begins!

So here are the fun things you can do to the event:

*** Hot air Balloons*** (you can see strange shaped hot air balloons, a cake, car, panda, I think 2011 had better lineup) but todays weather might not permit it. Other balloons actaually wasn't been able to fly at all.

***Kite****We we're able to fly a kite!
You could try buying kites ahead of time so you can have a better kite for a better price, you can try Divisoria for that.

There's also a kite exhibition :D

***Marine Helicopters/airplanes and war vehicles***

you can even ride some of the war vehicles and get some photo. They even have soldiers inside :D

Car Drifting
Just lying and seeing kites + clouds
foodtrip- penoy, shawarma, snow ice, scramble, hongkong noodles, chicharap
Sky Diving
Rescue mission - Helicopter
Jet excibition
Airplane Exibition
Fireworks (which is kinda disappointing anyways there will be a special firework palooza next week ^_^ )

Food tripppppppp - penoy, shawarma, snow ice, scramble, hongkong noodles, chicharap
having LOTS and LOTS of FUN and kulitan!

NOTE: Trekkeras are so hardcore they climbed Mt. Arayat and went to Balloon Festival WHOAAAAAAA!

Even going home is FUN! nag Pinoy henyo game before going home UNTIL :( someone stole my phone :( BUT it was still fun ^________^ it's just a phone I can buy again next time. BUT the fun memories :D can't be bought by money.

Now lets go on with the list

1 – Pokhara, Nepal (cheapest)
While Kathmandu is where most visitors land first, it’s fairly hectic and its sights can be seen in only a couple days, so most people head quickly to Pokhara, which is Nepal’s tourism hub and the starting point of many fabulous treks. Fortunately, it’s not only more pleasant than the capital, but also cheaper in most respects, so it’s a great place to linger if you have time.

Cheap/good hostel: North Face Inn – 254/night
Transportation: 80
Meals: 384
Drinks/Entertainment: 450
Attractions: 100
Daily Backpacker Index: NPR1,268 = US$15.10/day

2 – Hanoi, Vietnam
Vietnam’s cheapest city for backpackers is also one that gets high marks from most visitors with its unique combination of French colonial and Asian post-communism. The food is also top-notch, especially when you are sitting amongst locals at one of the thousands of plastic-chair cafes throughout the city. Keep costs even lower by sticking with Bia Hoi, the world’s cheapest beer.
Currency: Vietnamese dong
Cheap/good hostel: The Drift Backpackers Hostel – 105,000/night
Transportation: 30,000
Meals: 144,000
Drinks/Entertainment: 36,000
Attractions: 30,000
Daily Backpacker Index: VND345,500 = US$16.41/day
>>>Hanoi prices and weather

3 – Goa, India
India, in general, is a great travel bargain, as long as you are outside of its huge cities. Goa is actually a small state, rather than a city, so it’s a collection of beach and inland towns that have long been associated with hippie and electronic-music culture. Not all of Goa is this cheap, of course, but those on a budget can stretch their travel funds almost indefinitely in Goa if they have to, or are just motivated to hang around for a few months. It should be noted that the cheapest hotels in Goa (and throughout India) are in a class below “1-star” so paying for a nicer place might be wise.
Currency: Indian rupee
Cheap/good hostel: Evershine Guesthouse – 180/night
Transportation: 20
Meals: 432
Drinks/Entertainment: 210
Attractions: 100
Daily Backpacker Index: INR942 = US$17.94/day
>>>Goa prices and weather

4 – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Saigon, as it’s still usually known, is far more sprawling and modern compared to Hanoi, and it’s quite a bit more lively as well. Hotel and food prices tend to be a bit higher than elsewhere in Vietnam as well, but compared to almost anywhere else in the world this is a bargain. Hostel beds can be quite cheap in Saigon, but hotels are costlier than almost anywhere in Vietnam.
Currency: Vietnamese dong
Cheap/good hostel: Nga Hoang Hotel – 126,000/night
Transportation: 30,000
Meals: 158,000
Drinks/Entertainment: 45,000
Attractions: 25,000
Daily Backpacker Index: VND362,000 = US$18.17/day
>>>Ho Chi Minh City prices and weather

5 – Chiang Mai, Thailand
Thailand’s “capital of the north” is certainly one of the world’s great travel bargain destinations. Filled with ancient temples and surrounded by a moat and city walls, Chiang Mai is a major stop in the region and a highlight for many. Much less crowded than Bangkok, and quite a bit cheaper as well, this is also booming with expats and creative people living cheaply while they work.

Cheap/good hostel: A Little Bird Guesthouse – 100/night
Transportation: 40
Meals: 162
Drinks/Entertainment: 180
Attractions: 100

>>>Chiang Mai prices and weather

6 – Kathmandu, Nepal
Nepal’s capital is one of those cities most travelers just hustle through on their way somewhere else, like Pokhara or other trekking centers in this case, but it’s a fascinating and unusual place that’s worth a look for a few days anyway. The backpacker zone of Thamel is a classic traveler neighborhood, brimming over with cheap hotels, restaurants, and bars.
Currency: Nepalese rupee
Cheap/good hostel: Hotel Silver Home – 150/night
Transportation: 80
Meals: 576
Drinks/Entertainment: 440

>>>Kathmandu prices and weather

7 – Hoi An, Vietnam
Until you are actually planning a trip to Vietnam you’d be excused for never having heard of Hoi An, which is just south of Danang on the central coast. But Hoi An is a very popular stop for those touring the country, and it ends up being the trip highlight for a great number of those. The old town is a perfectly preserved Chinese-style fishing village, and the city is as filled with great and cheap restaurants as it is with tailor shops. With no real hostels Hoi An would be higher (cheaper) on this list because hotels are cheap.
Currency: Vietnamese dong
Cheap/good hostel: Sunflower Hotel – 150,000/night
Transportation: 30,000
Meals: 144,000
Drinks/Entertainment: 36,000
Attractions: 30,000
Daily Backpacker Index: VND429,000 = $20.40/day
>>>Hoi An prices and weather

8 – Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Phnom Penh might be visited less if not for the fact that it’s a handy stop between Siem Reap and the Mekong Delta, but its convenient location has helped it develop a large tourist infrastructure, and it’s an interesting stop for sure. The main attractions are all quite cheap, as are the happy-hour beers at the pleasant restaurants lined up along the river.
Currency: US dollar
Cheap/good hostel: Hostel Nomads – $4.50
Transportation: 2
Meals: 7.20
Drinks/Entertainment: 2.25
Attractions: 4.00
Daily Backpacker Index: US$19.95/day
>>>Phnom Penh prices and weather

9 – Luang Prabang, Laos
Prices for many things in Luang Prabang have gone up more recently than in just about any other tourist city, mostly due to its fast-growing popularity, but for now it’s still very cheap for those who travel like a backpacker. The local attractions are all practically free, and the ice-cold Beerlao is sold at the same low price at nearly every restaurant in the city. Hotel prices are relatively high in Luang Prabang so for most travelers it would be further down this list.
Currency: Laos kip
Cheap/good hostel: Spicylaos Backpackers – 28,800/night
Transportation: 20,000
Meals: 66,000
Drinks/Entertainment: 20,000
Attractions: 25,000
Daily Backpacker Index: LAK159,800 = US$19.96/day
>>>Luang Prabang prices and weather

10 – Bangkok, Thailand
Southeast Asia’s main entry point and most notorious destination continues to be a budget traveler’s dream, with plenty of cheap hostels and hotels plus excellent street food that costs almost nothing. It’s only the relatively high price of alcohol that pushes Bangkok down the cheap list a bit, so teetotalers are even better off than the rest of us.
Currency: Thai baht
Cheap/good hostel: ETZzz Hostel – 200/night
Transportation: 40
Meals: 138
Drinks/Entertainment: 180
Attractions: 140
Daily Backpacker Index: THB698 = US$21.95/day
>>>Bangkok prices and weather

11 – Kuta, Bali, Indonesia
Few parts of Asia have undergone such tourist growth as Bali, even after the tragic bombings. The Kuta beach area is now a nearly solid block of guesthouses, travel agencies, and restaurants, but fortunately it’s also still quite cheap, and an excellent travel bargain in general. Those wanting less commercialism can find it elsewhere in Bali, but those wanting a great beach party can find it in Kuta.
Currency: Indonesian rupiah
Cheap/good hostel: BIG Pineapple Backpackers – 90,250/night
Transportation: 10,000
Meals: 44,400
Drinks/Entertainment: 40,000
Attractions: 20,000
Daily Backpacker Index: IDR186,400 = US$$21.87/day
>>>Kuta, Bali prices and weather

12 – Manila, Philippines
It’s a bit unfair to use Manila as the only example in the Philippines, because the country is loaded with far nicer beach resorts and more interesting colonial cities, many of which are even cheaper than Manila. Still, many sun-seekers and cultural tourist head here every week, so it’s good to know that it’s very affordable for most of us.
Currency: Philippine peso
Cheap/good hostel: Friendly’s Guesthouse – 366/night
Transportation: 14
Meals: 372
Drinks/Entertainment: 180
Attractions: 100
Daily Backpacker Index: PHP1,032 = US$23.40/day
>>>Manila prices and weather

13 – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Malaysia, in general, tends to be forgotten by many, with the huge capital of Kuala Lumpur often mostly remembered as once having the world’s tallest buildings. That’s a major shame because Kuala Lumpur is a fascinating mix of new, old, and exotic, that’s also extremely easy to access since English is widely spoken. If visiting Singapore it’s worth taking the train up for a short side trip. Hostel beds tend to be cheap here, but hotel rooms will cost a bit more so for non-backpackers it would be down a few places on this list.
Currency: Malaysian ringgit
Cheap/good hostel: Step Inn Guest House Hostels – 15/night
Transportation: 1.40
Meals: 22.80
Drinks/Entertainment: 24.00
Attractions: 15.00
Daily Backpacker Index: MYR78.20 = US$24.83/day
>>>Kuala Lumpur prices and weather

14 – Delhi (and New Delhi), India
In what might be a surprise until you’ve actually visited yourself, Delhi (and New Delhi at its heart) is not as cheap as we might otherwise expect. Hotels tend to be far more expensive here, even in the infamous backpacker ghetto of Pahar Ganj, so even while dining on food from street stalls, this is not an ideal place for budget travelers, especially considering the other headaches of visiting.
Currency: Indian rupee
Cheap/good hostel: Mystique Moments – 549/night
Transportation: 16
Meals: 312
Drinks/Entertainment: 180
Attractions: 250
Daily Backpacker Index: INR1,307 = US$24.89/day
>>>Delhi prices and weather

15 – Phuket, Thailand
Phuket is another strange example on this list, since it’s not a city but a rather large island filled with beach resort towns. This is definitely the most expensive part of Thailand, but still cheapskates can have a good go of things if they are careful, though of course that means staying well away from any of the beaches in the process. Staying in the heart of any of the resort areas will at least double lodging prices, while Phuket Town itself remains quite cheap.
Currency: Thai baht
Cheap/good hostel: Pineapple Guesthouse – 180/night
Transportation: 50
Meals: 300
Drinks/Entertainment: 180
Attractions: 100
Daily Backpacker Index: THB810 = US$25.47/day
>>>Phuket prices and weather

16 – Siem Reap, Cambodia
One of the world’s great budget travel cities (and home of the world’s cheapest hostel beds), Siem Reap was built as a staging area for daytime trips to the Angkor Wat temples just to the north, yet on its own this city is also about as pleasant and fun as they come. Interestingly, Siem Reap would be well up this list, in the super-cheap territory, if we didn’t calculate in a substantial amount for Attractions, since the amazing temple complex itself is justifiably not cheap. Everything but the temples is amazingly cheap all things considered.
Currency: US dollar
Cheap/good hostel: Jasmine Lodge – 3.00/night
Transportation: 2.00
Meals: 7.20
Drinks/Entertainment: 1.50
Attractions: 12.00
Daily Backpacker Index: US$25.70/day
>>>Siem Reap prices and weather

17 – Vientiane, Laos
Landlocked and sometimes forgotten, Laos generally only tends to get visitors who are spending time touring the whole region, but those who make it are rewarded with a fascinating culture, and low prices. Laos’ capital city is so low key that it feels like a small-town river resort, though modern development is starting to creep in. Except for hostel prices, Vientiane is actually a bit cheaper than Luang Prabang.
Currency: Laos kip
Cheap/good hostel: Rivertime Resort and Ecolodge – 80,000/night
Transportation: 30,000
Meals: 62,400
Drinks/Entertainment: 30,000
Attractions: 6,000
Daily Backpacker Index: LAK129,400 = US$26.02/day
>>>Vientiane prices and weather

18 – Beijing, China
Even with its Olympics boom, Beijing continues to be a great budget travel destination, with prices that are suitable to nearly anyone. The backpacking set can stay cheaply and see the Forbidden City and Great Wall for just small change, and those with larger wallets can find a bit of luxury and class for not too much more money.
Currency: Chinese yuan
Cheap/good hostel: Happy Dragon Hostel – 31/night
Transportation: 4.00
Meals: 50.40
Drinks/Entertainment: 36.00
Attractions: 45.00
Daily Backpacker Index: CNY166.40 = US$26.37/day
>>>Beijing prices and weather

19 – Taipei, Taiwan
Another destination that is often forgotten, partly due to its remote location, Taipei still gets high marks from most visitors, and the rest of the island is even more interesting. The tourist infrastructure is well built, so things do tend to be fairly easy, and the city is quite cheap by international standards.
Currency: Taiwan dollar
Cheap/good hostel: Guest House Taiwanmex – 300/night
Transportation: 40
Meals: 204
Drinks/Entertainment: 150
Attractions: 200
Daily Backpacker Index: TWD894 = US$30.29/day
>>>Taipei prices and weather

20 – Mumbai, India
Even more expensive than Delhi, Mumbai feels like a shock this far down the list, but perpetually expensive hotels and no real hostels make this city pricier than you might expect. Fortunately, one can see the main sights in a few days or less, so it’s a good idea to minimize time in Mumbai and then head out to someplace less insane as quickly as possible.
Currency: Indian rupee
Cheap/good hostel: Anjali Inn – 800/night
Transportation: 36
Meals: 312
Drinks/Entertainment: 240
Attractions: 250
Daily Backpacker Index: INR1,638 = US$31.19/day
>>>Mumbai prices and weather

21 – Macau, China
Yes, it’s true that nearly everyone who visits Macau does so to gamble at one of its new and huge casinos, but it’s also long been an interesting destination for cultural visitors, offering a parallel tourist infrastructure in and near the old town itself. Many continue to stop over for a day or two on a Hong Kong side-trip, and bargains are still there for those who look (and don’t gamble).
Currency: Macau pataca
Cheap/good hostel: Motel168 Zhuhai NingXi Road Inn – 73/night
Transportation: 6.40
Meals: 122.40
Drinks/Entertainment: 30.00
Attractions: 25.00
Daily Backpacker Index: MOP256.80 = US$33.05/day
>>>Macau prices and weather

22 – Shanghai, China
Far more modern than Beijing, and also more designed for business travelers, Shanghai is still a relative bargain for backpackers. Most things are a bit more expensive here, so budget travelers have to seek out the cheaper options, but again, compared to a similar modern city in another part of the world, Shanghai is a steal.
Currency: Chinese yuan
Cheap/good hostel: Rock&Wood International Youth Hostel – 40/night
Transportation: 6
Meals: 54
Drinks/Entertainment: 60
Attractions: 54
Daily Backpacker Index: CNY214 = US$33.91/day
>>>Shanghai prices and weather

23 – Seoul, South Korea
These days Seoul seems to be known mostly for its lightning-fast internet connections, and its professional videogame culture, but there’s obviously a lot more to it than that. Fortunately, the city is still quite reasonably priced for this kind of technology, although its remote location and less-than-perfect climate will keep most people away.
Currency: Korean won
Cheap/good hostel: Big Choi’s Guest House – 12,100/night
Transportation: 2,000
Meals: 10,800
Drinks/Entertainment: 6,000
Attractions: 10,000
Daily Backpacker Index: KRW40,900 = US$35.26/day
>>>Seoul prices and weather

24 – Hong Kong, China
Hong Kong used to be famously cheap, and it’s still quite reasonably by international standards, but there are now so many rich people and business travelers coming through here that backpackers have to really search for the bargains. Hotels can be quite expensive, though some hostels are still great value.
Currency: Hong Kong dollar
Cheap/good hostel: Day and Night Hotel – 120/night
Transportation: 4.60
Meals: 69.60
Drinks/Entertainment: 72.00
Attractions: 36
Daily Backpacker Index: HKD302.20 = US$38.89/day
>>>Hong Kong prices and weather

25 – Singapore, Singapore
Easily one of the world’s most modern cities, Singapore can actually be quite expensive for most, but fortunately there is still a decent collection of hostels that keep sleeping prices down. Also, eating most meals from the famous hawker centers will keep your budget intact while letting you sample some excellent (and very hygenic) local specialties.
Currency: Singapore dollar
Cheap/good hostel: Fern Loft Backpacker Hostel – 18/night
Transportation: 1.60
Meals: 18.00
Drinks/Entertainment: 6.00
Attractions: 10.00
Daily Backpacker Index: SGD53.60 = US$41.23/day
>>>Singapore prices and weather

26 – Tokyo, Japan
No surprises at the most expensive end of the list, but still, up until the recent rise in the currency, Tokyo wasn’t as bad as most made it out to be from a budget perspective. It’s still not outrageous compared to the most expensive cities in Europe, and this is truly an amazing city that everyone should try to visit at least once, but be prepared for it to drain your travel funds quickly.
Currency: Japanese yen
Cheap/good hostel: JGH Tokyo – 1,287/night
Transportation: 320
Meals: 2,520
Drinks/Entertainment: 1,800
Attractions: 1,000
Daily Backpacker Index: JPY6,927 = US$90.14/day
