Patunay ng Galing ng Mountaineer na Filipino

     Ako si Jann Cris isang magaaral, nabibilang sa IT industriya, mahilig mag food trip, at higit sa lahat mahilig maglakwatsa kaya nga ako ay naturingang Weekend Lakwatsero. Dati ako ay isa lamang lakwatsero isang terminolohiya na ang ibig sabihin ay mahilig maglaboy mahilig maglakwatsa.  

Ngunit dumating ang araw may magandang pagbabagong naganap...

     Bago tayo tumungo sa pagbabagong iyon... Papaano nga ba nagumpisa ang hilig ko sa pamumundok?

Unang pagakyat sa bundok. Seoraksan,South Korea

     Pebrero 2010 ang aking unang pagakyat sa bundok. Ako ay nagpunta sa bundok   Seoraksan,South Korea. Inaamin ko na sa pagkakataon na ito na kahit may cable car sa ibang parte ako ay nahirapan pa din sa kadahilanang di ko naman gawain ang pamumundok at sa kadahilanang madulas sapagkat may nyebe sa daan. Pero ng narating ko ang tuktok kakaibang kaligayahan ang dulot nito... kalayaan.

Pagakyat para sa pagtibay ng pagkakaibigan

     Nasundan ito noong Nobyembre 2011 ng nagyaya ang aking mga hinde mountaineer na kaibigan na umakyat sa bundok sa Buntot Palos,Laguna. Ako ay lubusang nahirapan sapagkat di ko naman talaga gawain ito at ako ay takot sa matataas na lugar. At ng marating namin ang Hidden Falls...kalayaan at mas matibay na pagkakaibigan.






     Ito ay nasundan ng kami ay nagtungo sa Batad, Ifugao...

Dito nawala ang takot ko sa matataas na lugar. Dito nagumpisa ang pagkahilig ko sa pagakyat

Dito ko mas lalong natutunan ang makibagay sa ibat ibang klase ng tao

     Enero 2012 nasundan muli ito ng ako ay makasama sa Storm Chasers sa pagakyat ng Bundok Manalmon. Ako ay lubusang nasiyahan di lamang sa lugar pati na rin sa saya ng dulot ng kwentuhan.

    Ng makalaunan napansin kong sila din pala ay mahilig sumama sa mga events tulad ng pagtanim ng puno, pag repack ng school supplies na donation, pagsuporta ng mga event na nakakatulong sa mga batang may sakit at nakakatanda(U! Happy Events).

     Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa mga mountaineer na nakilala ko. Dahil sa kanila ako ay naging isang mas mabuting tao sa kadahilanang mas naging aktibo ako sa pagtulong sa kapwa at sa pagaruga sa kalikasan.

Yan ang galing ng Mountaineer na Filipino. Hinde lang pagakyat sa bundok ang nais... Kundi pagtulong sa kapwa at kalikasan

Nakakatuwang isipin na ang pagakyat sa bundok ay magdudulot ng isang magandang pagbabago... Kaya tara na...akyat na ^_^

Habang sinusulat ko ito nakangiti ako ^_^ ... excited na ako sa magaganap na tree planting sa Kick Off event at sa Haribon Foundation Tree Planting...

La Mesa Nature Reserve Park Tree Planting

Summary: Donating 250 pesos for the forest + trek + actually propagating the plant which will be added to the forest which not only act a the lungs of Manila but it also do a part in serving water for the 12 Million residence of Manila.

Beside the wall climbing, swimming and biking in La Mesa Ecopark you can actually trike and rent a bike to explore the only remaining forest in Manila.

Trek for a total of 2 and a half hour. Still smiling ^_^. I'm so glad to meet this kind of people. Thanks to Storm Chasers, Pinoy Volunteer Group and Binagyo Group.

Together with Binagyo Outdoor Group, Storm Chasers and Pinoy Volunteer Group we went to La Mesa Nature Reserve Park to support in saving the Watershed which is actually serving the 12 million residents of Manila. What we did is a plant propagation, we prepared the soil to plant the seedlings which in turn will need to survive 6-8 months before being planted to the forest.

Let's celebrate Earth Day appreciate nature and learn ways to protect our environment.

     Shovel, cap, face towel, extra shirt, sunblock, and gloves CHECK. ^_^ I'm READY!

     Karla, Ivy, JM and I met at Arroceros mini-forest park for a tree planting event. The part is just near SM Manila but wow I used to came across that area and I never knew there's a park there! The event is the project of Mayor Alfredo Lim in cooperation with Winner Foundation, Inc. and Green Peace Philippines.

     While planting trees I had the chance to do take some shots of the trees and flowers there. There's not much flowers there I just notice that there's a lot of trees well yeah! it's a mini forest park.

Batad Weekend Warrior - Help Restore Batad

I went with my friends in Batad last December and the beauty is really great but I noticed also that some parts are deteriorating. Good thing that this  Feb 3, 2012 until December 2012 there will be a restoration. But this time they are asking help for people/mountaineering the Batad's can't do all the work.So mountaineering guys LETS GO and contribute something to our history ^_^


Some of the Storm Chasers/Trekkeras will be going to this restoration of Batad. You guys are so great ^_^ It was really an honor meeting you guys. I might go to the next batch since I have used my curfew time... LOLS too much trevelling this days and I think I can go to next months batch.

Batad Weekend Warrior is established on VolunTourism concept to support the "Badchang" - A Revival of Ifugao Bayanihan Spirit and Restoration Program of Batad Rice Terraces (a UNESCO Heritage Site) of Banaue, Ifugao in the Philippines BE A BATAD WEEKEND WARRIOR Help the Ifugaos restore the Batad Rice Terraces by becoming a Batad Weekend Warrior starting Feb 3, 2012. Bachang ('vfa-dchang) or Baddang means "Bayanihan" in Ifugao dialect. Traditionally, the Ifugao's held the Bachang to assist a farmer in performing farm chores or house repairs. Bachang will be a work-in progress activity in Batad Village. On top of the usual tour packages and itinerary in Banaue, the community of Batad is opening their doors to all VolunTOURISTS to a unique participatory activity of "stonewalling" in order to restore and rehabilitate the damaged portions of the rice terraces during the past typhoons. The group build requires at least twenty (20) volunTourists and the activity will take about four (4) hours minimum under the guidance of local master builder and a locale team comprised of farmers. This will be held every weekend starting Feb 3, 2012 until December 2012. There are no specific technical know-hows required except that a participants willingness to do a 1 hour and half-trek to reach Batad. Participatory fees* to be paid will be in forms of in-kind (barter) like farming tools (shovel, spades, prong hoe, boots, protective helmet and gloves). This will be given as donation to the Batad Community Work Shop available to tourist and farmers. * - Participatory fees are in-kind donations (see specified list of materials) and does not include travel, accommodation, guide and PhP20.00 pesos registration fee for visiting Banaue, Ifugao. Special arrangement for group build can be arranged with the Batad Community through the Barangay Council in Batad Village and or the Banaue Tourism Information Center (074 386 4010/ 09294692138 Jane Mateo) at Banaue town proper. Batad Rice Terraces is one of the five (5) rice terraces enshrined by UNESCO as World Heritage Site in 1995. Due to climate change and natural calamities, the rice terraces is at the risk of deterioration caused by soil erosion. Batad Weekend Warrior is just one of the collective efforts from both government and private sectors. Cultivated through a sustainable VolunTOURISM program, the advocacy to revive the Ifugao's "bayanihan spirit" aims nonetheless but to rehabilitate the rice terraces as a true living natural museum and world heritage site; conducive for learning and experience though mutual cooperation and sweat equity. Bachang is a volunTOURISM initiative of John Chua's Photography With A Difference (PWD) and the people of Ifugao. TOOLS & EQUIPMENT NEEDED Below are list of heavy-duty tools needed for the project. You may bring one or two of any of these and hand-it over to Batad Work Shop. • Spades • Shovel • Prong Hoe • Pick Matock • Spading Fork • Wedgepoint • Crowbars • Iron Mallet • Wheel Borrow • Steel Buckets • Protective Helmet • Rubber Boots • Leather Gloves WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING Trekking to Batad requires some trekking so make sure you travel light. • Backpack with lumbar support • Sets of clothes good for 2-3 days • Toiletries and medicines • Hydration system or water bottle • Hat or cap • Rain gear • Fleece jacket • Trekking pole • Camera Volunteering to Bachang will entail working on the rice terraces so its is advisable to bring protective gears in case you don't want to borrow from the community work shop. • Protective Helmet • Rubber Boots • Leather Gloves HOW TO GET TO BANAUE From Manila, take NLEX / SCTEX and exit to San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, and drive all the way to Nueva Viscaya via Dalton Pass. Turn left once at Bagabag, Nueva Viscaca junction leading you all the way up to Banaue town. Daily trips are available for Manila - Banaue via Ohayami Bus in Fajardo St. corner A.H. Lacson Avenue, Sampaloc Manila. Bus trips are during the evenings between 9PM-10PM only. ONCE AT BANAUE Register at Banaue Tourism and Information Center, they will help you arrange you IT and tour packages for Batad. Make sure you inform the tourism officer that you will be volunteering to the Bachang in Batad. You need to get a accredited guide who will bring you to Batad and will serve as your go-to person while you're on tour. You also need to get a chartered jeepney to bring you to Batad Saddle and fetch you upon your return. Porter services are available at the Saddle. Standard fees and fare rates are available at the Banaue Tourism and Information Center, so make sure you check with the office first. WHAT TO EXPECT IN BATAD Batad Proper is accessible via foot trail from Batad Saddle. It has several hostels, inns and home stays for travelers at the View Point. You can pre-arrange this prior to your trip or while at Banaue. Rates start at PhP 150 overnight. Meals are also available on the hostel. There is electricity in Batad but it has no cellular services so it is advisable to make all necessary calls right before the Batad Saddle. There's also a Liquor ban in Batad and most stores closes pass 7pm. WHAT TO SEE IN BATAD Trekking is required to explore and appreciate Batad and immediate surroundings. • Amphitheater Rice Terraces • Tappiyah Falls • Bachang (Stonewalling Activity) • Gateway to Cambulo, Patyay and Bangaan Villages.
